On behalf of general manager Kevin Lowe and the rest of the Oilers organization we would like to welcome our fans here in Edmonton and nationwide to what is poised to be a great season of NHL hockey. Newly appointed head coach, Zachary Priest, has taken on the challenge of leading our troops through the long, hard battle towards Lord Stanley, the most coveted sports trophy in the world.

This season the Oilers will be icing their youngest team to date in hopes of recreating the magic of the Oilers past dynasty which boasted the skills and leadership of then pimply-faced teenagers Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier, just to name a few...

After speaking with some of the players, it's clear this season will be a challenge and moreso a learning experience for the cast of young stars. As emerging superstar Ales Hemsky put it (through a translator), "There's no louder building in the league to be playing in front of... We know what the fans expect of us and we have to deliver [...] the pressure is on". Newly acquired center Ryan Getzlaf had the following to say in response to Hemsky's optimistic comments, "Hemps is definately right there, eh. We's got a tough road ahead of us but we've definately got character guys in the room. We'll prove the critics wrong this year".

Reporting for Oil Country, this is ... well... you don't need to know that Wink
